Medu vada

  Ingredients:

  • 1/4 kg Black gram dal
  •  7 to 8 black pepper powder
  •  2 chopped onions
  •  6 to 7 finely chopped green chillis.
  •  salt 
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda 
  • oil
  •  1/4 cup coriander
  • 7 to 8 curry leaves 


Medu vada

               First, soak the Black gram dal.in water for 2 hours. Grind the soaked dal through the mixer using very little water. Take the split dal in a bowl and beat it for 2 to 3 minutes. Now add onion, green chilies, black pepper powder, salt and coriander to the mixture and mix well. Put a pan on the gas and heat the oil. Now take a long handle spoon and apply water with your fingers. Put the flour mixture on it and make a round shape. Make a hole in the center with a finger dipped in water. And leave it in the oil like this.  Fry the vada on medium to high heat till it turns red. Hot Medu Vada is ready.
Important Note: While dropping the vada in the oil, drop it carefully from a short distance.
